GET your motors running for a world first at the upcoming 24-hour Tractorthon.
Organised by Bathurst man Nick Clancey, the tractorthon will see four vintage tractors ridden for 24 hours straight to raise funds for Little Wings Children’s Charity.
Mr Clancey has been involved with the Central West Charity Tractor Trek group for the past five years and was looking to add a new event to help raise further funds for Little Wings.
“I believe it is a world first. I tried to get the Guinness World Records out but it costs money and you have to give three months notice,” he said.
“We’re going to be running four tractors and there will be a driver change every half an hour.”
“There will be a total of 192 driver changes during the event.”
A Current Affair journalist Dimity Clancey will be among the drivers and Mr Clancey is hopeful another one or two celebrity drivers will take up the invitation to get involved.
The tractorthon is not a race and all four vehicles will travel the same loop on the showground at the same time.
Mr Clancey said drivers are already seeking sponsorship, with the public able to sponsor people by the lap or the hour.
And while slots to drive in the event are fully booked, he has encouraged the public to come long to check out the action.
The 24-Hour Tractorthon commences at 2pm on Saturday, July 28 at the Canowindra Showground and raffles will be held throughout the event.
First prize in the raffle is a Hyundai i30 valued at more than $25,000.
The tractors that are involved are all vintage and they include: a 1953 Fordson, a 1962 Massey Ferguson, a 1964 Ford Super Dexter and a 1976 Ford 4100.
All funds raised during the 24-Hour Tractorthon will go to Little Wings Children’s Charity.
