On Sunday 21st of August, Bill Dunlop (General Manager) and Aaron Kent (Electric Vehicle Program Manager) attended a Rural Fire Service workshop held at Borenore RFS. The workshop included 64 NSW RFS volunteers from 8 Canobolas Zones.
As technologies have advanced and costs reduced, the uptake of electric vehicle (EV) usage has rapidly increased, resulting in NSW RFS volunteers being exposed to these types of vehicles.
Education and awareness on potential fire and associated gas emissions as a result of an EV accident is vital for the NSW RFS volunteers due to the vast differences between an EV fire compared to a conventional vehicle fire.
The workshop was presented by Paul Honeyman, Borenore Brigade Training Officer, with expert EV advice and information provided by Aaron and Bill. On display throughout the day was GB Auto’s converted Toyota LandCruiser, and other EV’s including a Tesla, hybrid Hyundai, and hybrid Toyota Corolla.
Thank you to the RFS for extending the invitation, we enjoyed supporting this workshop.
